This is a surgery showing placement of a BAHA (Bone anchored hearing aid) implant. This device is implanted behind the ear to help people who are deaf in one ear hear the sound in the other ear. Patients who are born without an ear canal (congenital atresia) and those with chronic ear infections who cannot use a regular hearing aid are good candidates for the BAHA implant surgery. This surgery is performed by Dr. Hamid Djalilian, the director of otology, neurotology, and skull base surgery at University of California Irvine 714-456-7017.
